Story
The publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst amassed a fortune selling papers (and is thought by some to have pushed the U.S. into the Spanish-American war). He is probably most remembered now as being the inspiration for Orson Welles' Citizen Kane
Our Hearst shirt is a member of a series of shirts inspired by the magnates of the industrial and progressive eras. Though sometimes controversial, these people have come to symbolize the eminence and responsibility that talent and diligent work can deliver.
The Hearst is a eccentric extravagance. It has a bright blue banker stripe and is cut from 100% 2-ply 100s Egyptian cotton. It also features our signature cutaway collar.
Design
Fabric
Egyptian cotton is a particular variety that is grown in only a few other places. It is renowned as some of the best in the world. It has an extra long staple, which means it has longer fibers, resulting in a silkier, more durable fabric.Poplin, sometimes called broadcloth, is a plain weave which means the threads alternately cross over and then under each other. This results in a very smooth and durable fabric that has an almost silky hand feel, particularly with higher thread counts. Also, poplins look very crisp when ironed.
